Roller Racks

Roller Racks – Roller racks are a type of gravity flow system that combines the advantages of drive-in racks, push-back racks, and Pallet Shuttle systems. Their operation is simple. Each level of the aisle is designated for one reference and equipped with slightly inclined rollers.

Pallets are loaded from one side of the rack, and then they move by gravity along the rollers to the opposite end, where they are ready for unloading (hence these systems are also called gravity systems). Forklifts do not need to move inside the aisles.

With this method, the first pallet placed on a given level is the first one to be removed (FIFO system). This allows for perfect product rotation.

Roller racks utilize gravity to move pallets located on them. It is possible to install aisles with a depth of more than 20 m, but it is essential to check the condition, quality (must be high), and weight of the pallets.

This type of solution is ideal for storing goods with a short shelf life, high turnover, and high consumption products characterized by a constant flow (continuous receipts and issues). Two aspects related to designing such a storage method should be remembered.

Firstly, because the pallets are placed in an inclined position, the height of this system is higher than in other solutions, especially in the case of long racks, as greater depth translates into greater height.
